Sleep
Disorders Center
It's
time to get back to sleep.
When
was the last time you had a really good night's sleep? A sleep disorder
may be the reason you are not getting regular restful sleep, resulting
in daytime sleepiness, impaired memory and an inability to concentrate.
It can affect long-term health, contributing to depression, cardiovascular
problems and other health issues.
Our
sleep study rooms are designed to make you as comfortable as possible
and include:
- Luxurious sheets and comforters
- TV with DVD player
- Private bathroom with shower
- Soothing music
- Bedtime snack
- Continental breakfast
If
you or someone you know is having problems getting a restful night's
sleep, call Memorial's Sleep Disorders Center at 574-647-1850 to
learn more about the symptoms of sleep disorders. Consult with your
physician to determine whether a sleep study is appropriate for
you. (To locate a physician, call The Health Professionals at 574-647-6800.)
We're

The
Sleep Disorders Center can help diagnose various disorders including:
Sleep
Apnea: Characterized by pauses of breathing during sleep.
It is often associated with loud snoring, snorting and gasping for
breath. Sleep apnea can result in daytime sleepiness, depression
and cardiovascular problems.
Excessive
Daytime Sleepiness: Sufferers may struggle to stay awake
during the day and experience reduced productivity at school or
work, memory or concentration problems.
Narcolepsy:
This results in a frequent and, at times, overwhelming
urge to sleep. Narcolepsy is frequently associated with brief periods
of sudden transient muscle weakness in response to an unexpected
emotion.
Restless
Leg Syndrome and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder: Restless
leg syndrome causes uncomfortable sensations in the legs near sleep
time, sometimes described as a "creepy-crawly" feeling. Periodic
limb movement disorder causes the arms and legs to move or jerk
involuntarily during sleep.
